Did Keith Urban hint at emotional Nicole Kidman divorce a year ago?

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s split news only break out in September, but the country star seemingly hinted at the state of his relationship a lot earlier.

The 57-year-old singer performed his song, Straight Line, from his latest album, High, during the premiere of his show, The Road, and it gave a new insight into trouble in paradise, given the divorce filing which followed.

The Fighter hitmaker opened up about the inspiration behind the song back in 2024, writing, “This is the song that kicks off an album I’m joining to share with you all. I chose it first for a lot of reasons, but particularly because I think it represents an energy and spirit that became a through line of the whole record,” through Instagram.

Urban wrote via Instagram in February 2024. “I’m gonna cover a lot of themes, emotions and vibes on this album but a very human spirit runs through them all.”

The Let It Roll singer continued, “Straight Line is wanting to break out of a soul-sucking routine that you might be stuck in: maybe in a relationship, a job, with creativity, with yourself…whatever it is !!” which fans think is telling of his marital troubles after the now-confirmed split.

The Australian actress and Urban had been living apart since earlier this year, according to sources close to them.

The Babygirl actress filed for divorce a day after their split was announced and requested to have the primary custody of their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
