MS Dhoni surprise appearance at US Open 2025 amid 'hookah' controversy goes viral
MS Dhoni made a surprise appearance at the US Open 2025
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the famous cricketer and former captain of the Indian cricket team, made a surprise appearance at the US Open on September 3, 2025, watching the men’s singles quarterfinal match between Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
Dhoni’s presence at the tennis match created an internet storm in both India and New York.
Dhoni’s outfit for the match became a significant topic of discussion. He was wearing a denim outfit with an AMIRI shirt jacket. The attire was identified as full of luxury brands. The media described his style as “quite luxury.”
The appearance at the US Open 2025 coincided with the viral controversy of Irfan Pathan, in which the cricketer discussed the communication gap during exclusion from the national team under the MS Dhoni captaincy.
Irfan Pathan said he did not have a habit of “setting up a hookah in someone’s room” to integrate with the captain. Many interpreted this as a veiled comment about Dhoni.
Dhoni has not publicly commented on the resurfaced controversy. Instead of adding fuel to the fire, he chose to enjoy the match. Mahi made a very quiet appearance at the tennis match.
However, Djokovic won the quarterfinal match against Taylor Fritz and secured a place in the semi-finals, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz.
