A mysterious large wooden boat from ancient times has been discovered in the Sea of Galilee, which has recently turned red.

According to the Daily Mail, the cedar-planked vessel has been nicknamed “Jesus Boat” and it dates back to the first century, coinciding with the era of Christ.

Danny Herman, a biblical archeology expert, said, “It’s a 2,000-year-old boat found in the Sea of Galilee,” noting that the vessel could hold about 12 people and it is the same type mentioned in the Gospels.

The boat was first discovered in 1986, when a drought exposed parts of the Sea of Galilee’s shoreline.

The maritime archeologists have confirmed the boat structure to be Roman-era construction and Carbon-14 dating has placed the vessel in first century.

Another archeology expert Dr Kurt says that all signs including the boat’s flat bottom design and repairs made with cheap local wood suggest that it belonged to a poor fisherman of that time.

He added that the construction of the vessel can be traced from the first century BC to the first century AD.

Sea of Galilee turns blood red, ignites apocalypse fears

Its discovery from the turned red Sea of Galilee has religious connotations as well as the sea holds special spiritual significance for three major faiths of the world: Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
