Christina Applegate opens up about ‘painful’ moments in debut memoir
Christina Applegate to share 'painful' moments in 'You With the Sad Eyes' memoir
Christina Applegate is set to bring her “painful” moments into the spotlight in her upcoming memoir, You With the Sad Eyes.
The 53-year-old actress, known for her role as Kelly Bundy in the sitcom Married… with Children, is gearing up for her debut memoir.
In a press release, the Dead to Me alum shared that the book explores her struggles with abuse, abandonment, body dysmorphia, and assault.
Speaking exclusively, she said, “I decided to write this book when I was forced to slow down. I’ve had career in TV and film since I was three years old, and I loved it. But with MS, all the things I thought were important shifted."
Applegate, who has been subject to abuse amid her devastating health journey, shared her traumatic off-screen experiences that are barely known to her fans.
“For a long time, it felt impossible to find the meaning in everything I’ve been through, but for the first time in my life I’ve been able to stop and reflect. I’ve packed a lot into these 50-something years.
“It’s scary – not gonna lie – to finally decide to tell it all. But no matter how dark it gets, I wrote this because I truly believe that books can make people feel less alone,” she continued. “I promise, You with the Sad Eyes won’t be some big violin scratching for my life. But it will be real. It will be filled with the ups and downs, the humor and grief of life. So here I am. Real me. Lots to say.”
Notably, the Vacation star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008.
You With the Sad Eyes is scheduled to launch on March 3, 2026.
