Kenneth Branagh praises Jodie Comer acting skills to young Meryl Streep
Kenneth Branagh, the British actor and director lauded Jodie Comer by likening her to Hollywood veteran actress Meryl Streep.
While promoting his upcoming film, The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde, he raved about his leading star Comer for her spectacular acting skills.
"I consider myself fortunate to have worked with her at this stage in her career," Branagh told The Times.
"As somebody once said of the young Streep, 'I wish I had shares in her future.'"
When asked about the movie's plot, the filmmaker stayed tight-lipped, teasing only vague details about Commer's character.
He said that she is "dark night of the soul … reckless emotional exposure, volatility."
The Bikeriders actress responded to the compliment in another interview by the same outlet saying, "He is very kind… Bless him."
The film also stars Patricia Arquette, Michael Sheen, Tom Bateman, and Vicky McClure.
Comer rose to fame playing assassin Villanelle in the hit BBC America series Killing Eve. She latter held her own in Ridley Scott's 2021 drama, The Last Duel, in which she starred opposite Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Currently, the 32-year-old artist is gracing the silver screen for her role in Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later, which was released on June 20.
