King Charles left in shock as driver gets in nasty crash
Scary collision takes place as King Charles watches scene unfold in Windsor
King Charles was notably left horrified as he witnessed a harrowing scene unfold in front his very eyes.
The monarch was attending the Royal Windsor Horse Show at Windsor Castle alongside his brother, Prince Edward on Saturday. They were also joined by Edward’s wife, Sophie, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
However, during one moment, Charles and his brother were left shocked when the competitor’s carriage collided with a gatepost while attempting to speed through, via The Telegraph.
Thankfully, the horses and their drivers survived unscathed.
According to an onlooker, the competitor had come around the obstacle course and “the back of the carriage crashed into a 6ft-high gatepost that they were trying to drive through.”
“They took it too tight and the back literally clattered into it. The King pointed to it and Edward put his hand to his face, before explaining why it had happened,” they said.
“No one was hurt, the four horses at the front were fine and they carried on.”
The equestrian event, which was a favourite of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, was first staged in 1943 to help raise funds for the war effort.
