Blackpink's Jisoo unleashes fierce side in zombie-filled 'Newtopia'
Jisoo set to play a brave college girl trying to survive in zombie-filled drama series 'Newtopia'
Jisoo, member of the popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, is now all set to star in upcoming Korean drama series Newtopia, which is scheduled to premiere on February 7, 2025.
The 29-year-old singer and now become actress, Jisoo played Kang Youngjoo, a determined engineer navigating zombie-infested Seoul to reunite with her boyfriend, Lee Jaeyoon, played by Park Jeongmin.
The newly released pictures shows Yeongju facing very scary moments as zombies getting close to her. They further went on capturing softer scenes that highlight her strong aura to survive.
However, Newtopi is based on Han Sangwoon's novel Influenza, and is directed by Yoon Sunghyun, who is best known for his talented work on Time to Hunt as the script is is co-written by Han Jinwon.
While giving the peek behind the curtain, Jisso shared: "I was captivated by Yeongju’s charm from the start and felt driven to bring the character to life."
As the director praised the skills of the singer, he stated, "Her humorous personality and unique charms were a 99% match with Yeongju’s character."
"Despite Seoul being overrun by zombies, Yeongju’s bold determination to reach her boyfriend shines through," shared by production team.
Moreover, Newtopia will be available for streaming on the Coupang Play app in South Korea and on Prime Video in over 240 regions.
