Tom Holland has hinted that he may eventually move on from playing Spider-Man and help introduce a new actor to take over the role.

The 29-year-old actor has played Peter Parker since 2016, first appearing in Captain America: Civil War before leading multiple standalone Spider-Man films and major Marvel crossover projects.

In a recent interview with Empire, Holland said he would like to be involved in shaping the next stage of the franchise, including potentially supporting the transition to a new version of the character such as Miles Morales or Spider-Gwen.

He said he would be “content swinging off into the sunset” if he could help guide the future of the series in a similar way to how Robert Downey Jr. helped launch his own Marvel journey.

Holland added that he and the studio have already begun discussing ideas for the next Spider-Man film, which he described as more emotional and mature in tone.

The upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be Holland’s fourth solo outing as the character. It is set five years after the events of No Way Home, where Peter Parker’s identity was erased from the memories of everyone he knew.

Holland also revealed that he was involved in early creative discussions for the new film, including pitching ideas for the storyline, though not all of them were accepted.

The actor has not confirmed any retirement plans but has previously suggested he may step away from acting in the future to focus on family life.
