Richard Gadd on bagging Emmy for ‘Baby Reindeer’: ‘nobody thought’
‘Baby Reindeer’ gets Richard Gadd an Emmy against four different nominations
Baby Reindeer made Richard Gadd happy as the series took home the award for outstanding limited or anthology series at the Sept. 15 event of the Emmys 2024.
Netflix's Baby Reindeer, which documents Richard Gadd's semi-autobiographical story of a budding comedian and his stalker, ignited debate among fans after its April premiere and received 11 Emmy nominations.
Fargo, Lessons in Chemistry, Ripley, and True Detective: Night Country round out the best limited or anthology series, with each immersing the viewers to a different time period.
Gadd, 35, plays a version of himself in Baby Reindeer, a story about a bartender who faces an obsessed stalker named Martha (Jessica Gunning) after offering her a cup of tea while working at a London pub.
"I think nobody thought that it would be the stratospheric, Emmy-nominated success that it became. And it was overnight," Gadd told The Hollywood Reporter, considering that the seven-episode series got the attention of enough viewers to make it to Netflix's 10th most watched English-language shows spot as of June.
The other shows nominated in the category were Fargo, Lessons in Chemistry, Ripley, and True Detective: Night Country.
