Francia Raisa gets candid about reproductive health struggles
Francia Raisa feels that medicinal facilities still need advancement in 'women's specific health'
Francia Raisa, 35, is opening up about her reproductive health journey, sharing a recent diagnosis that may impact her ability to become pregnant.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, June 26, the How I Met Your Father star revealed that she has been diagnosed with a condition that, combined with her existing PCOS, could potentially affect her chances of carrying a child.
“I’ve been very open about my health, especially my PCOS. But in the past two weeks, things took a serious turn,” Raisa’s lengthy caption began.
She clarified that despite years of visits to numerous physicians and health professionals, she was still unable to understand what was wrong with her body.
“I found a new gynecologist who told me that I also have SIBO and endometriosis, which puts me at a very high risk of having complicated pregnancies in the future,” the actress wrote.
“I was in shock.”
Raisa stated that she tried hard to take care of herself and described the outcomes as unexpected.
“With all the advances in medicine, there still isn’t enough research being done into women’s specific health care to really understand how women like me are able to ensure our opportunity to have a healthy life and family,” Raisa wrote.
The Grown-ish actress then turned her attention to abortion rights, saying, "It pisses me off that our rights as women...are being attacked!"
Raisa thanked Vice President Kamala Harris for inviting her “to participate in a fireside chat in Arizona to discuss women’s rights and reproductive freedoms to mark the two year anniversary of that awful Dobbs decision.”
She thanked Harris "for the ride back to LA" and grinned as she posed in front of Air Force One in the cover photo.
