YouTube Music: THIS 'humming' feature to change song search forever
YouTube Music users just need to remember melodies to find songs
Have you ever had that moment when you are trying to remember a song but struggle to recall the words or the song's title?
Well, if you are an Android user and you experience that moment again, don't stress because, according to Engadget, YouTube Music is rolling out a new feature that allows you to "play, sing, or hum a song" to search on Android.
But how will this feature work?
YouTube Music's 'hum to search' feature
According to Engadget, you can access the feature by tapping the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner. Then, you'll notice a new waveform icon next to the microphone.
A vibrant search page in YouTube Music will prompt you to "Play, sing, or hum a song."
The identification process can be quite fast.
A fullscreen results page shows cover art, song name, artist, album, year, and even download/offline status, as well as "Play" or "Save" to your library shortcuts.
Additionally, you may exit this screen from the top-left corner or perform another search at the bottom.
According to the report, YouTube Music started testing this feature in March, while Google Play Music offered something like this a long time ago.
Song search is a server-side update that will be seen with version 7.02 of YouTube Music for Android. However, there has not been any sign of this feature rolling out to iOS just yet.
