Ukrainian boxer Oleksander Usyk has defeated British boxer Tyson Fury to win the world's first undisputed heavyweight championship in 25 years, Barron's reported.
The match started with Fury attacking Usyk unabashedly, however, soon the tables turned with the latter dominating the ring.
This is Fury’s first defeat in his 36-match career.
With the win, Usyk has joined the likes of Mohammad Ali, Joe Louis, and Mike Tyson to become the undisputed heavyweight champion, the first since boxing recognised four major belts in the 2000s.
Although a rematch between them is expected in October this year.
Beaming with happiness, Usyk said, "It is a big opportunity for me, for my family, and for my country. It's a great time, a great day."
He added that he was "ready for a rematch".
Despite the loss, Fury said, "I believe I won that fight; I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority of them."
"You know his country is at war, so people are siding with the country at war, but make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion, and I will be back."
The match was held in Saudi Arabia and was attended by Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Anthony Joshua among others.
