Apple's Siri can chat as well, thanks to its new AI makeover
Apple adds AI technology to Siri beating rival competitors
Apple is planning to revamp its virtual assistant Siri by adding in some artificial intelligence-powered features, Times of India reported.
This new update will reportedly be available on next-generation iPhones.
According to reports, Siri will get a "brain transplant" by incorporating generative AI that will allow it to chat rather than only respond to queries.
Furthermore, reports suggest that Apple has been in discussions about licensing complementary AI models from several companies, including Google, Cohere, and OpenAI.
The report said: "Apple has focused on making Siri better at handling tasks that it already does, including setting timers, creating calendar appointments, and adding items to a grocery list. It would also be able to summarise text messages."
In addition, Apple plans to integrate Siri AI with on-device processing with no option to delete, unlike OpenAI's ChatGPT, which can be deleted.
Apple has more than two billion devices in use globally where it can distribute AI products. Moreover, Apple could have an advantage over rivals due to its top semiconductor team, which has been producing advanced circuits that can power AI tasks like face recognition.
Apple is reportedly planning too incorporate AI technologies in all its products such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
