WhatsApp is revealing a redesigned status tray feature which will soon be available for use by more beta users on their phones.
By a WhatsApp beta release, the inside of the updates tab was shown, according to Techloy.
The new status update feature has a rectangular shape compared to its previous circular version, from what has been known so far.
This now allows users to have a preview of a contact's status update so that they are aware about what to expect when they decide to engage with it.
With WhatsApp working to make it available to more beta users on Android, the new feature is available in version 2.24.10.10 of WhatsApp beta for Android.
This has been done by the Meta-owned app, so that the users can provide feedback on whether it is a good enough feature to roll out to its main app or not.
However, one prominent query that WhatsApp will have to answer is how it plans to set the perfect space for the rectangular status update feature. This is required to be done without it interfering into a major part of the screen and potentially affecting the space for channel subscriptions.
