Thailand's royal family celebrates coronation day with three day festivities
The royal family of Thailand celebrated Coronation Day with three-day festivities that included religious ceremonies and an army parade, Nation Thailand reported.
The king and queen of Thailand marked the fifth anniversary of Maha Vajiralongkorn, who has been in power since 2016.
The Coronation Day, which fell on Saturday and was also the last day of the three-day festivities, was commemorated with celebration throughout the county.
The coronation ceremony, which took place in the Grand Palace, started with the king paying homage to Buddha images. He also paid his respects to the Supreme Patriarch by offering him food.
Subsequently, other members of the royal family, councillors, and senior government officials served food to the 19 monks.
Following this, King Vajiralongkorn paid homage to the royal regalia by sprinkling holy water on it.
King Vajiralongkorn is the 10th monarch of Thailand from the Chakri dynasty. His coronation ceremony was held from May 4–6.
He has a net worth of $43 billion, making him the richest monarch in Asia. He has been married four times and has seven children.
On May 4, the Thai armed forces fired a 21-gun salute to mark the beginning of the three-day celebrations.
