Saudi Arabia is building linear parks and linear cities
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman is transforming the kingdom under its Saudi Vision 2030 plan. From Neom "The Line" to AlUla, the list of mega projects keeps growing, The National News reported.
MBS aims to diversify its economy and reduce its reliance on hydrocarbons by turning the country into a cultural, social, and technological hub.
Here is a list of mega projects that will change Saudi Arabia’s landscape
Neom
The futuristic $500 billion desert project, Neom, is a core part of Saudi Vision 2030.
There are 11 projects under Neom, including "The Line" city.
Red Sea project
The Red Sea Project is an eco-friendly resort carved into the mountains. It will have futuristic outer-water villas whose views will rival the Maldives. The project includes 90 islands, dormant volcanoes, mountain canyons, and ancient archaeological sites.
AlUla
AlUla is a heritage site that will have more than 7,500 hotel rooms, 5,000 residential units, a staff village comprising more than 1,000 units, as well as infrastructure support.
Diriyah
Diriyah is a $62.2 billion development project that aims to showcase Saudi Arabia's history. Under this project, MBS plans to restore ancient cultural sites, turning them into a tourist attraction.
Sports Boulevard
Sports Boulevard, the world's largest linear park, is expected to be more than 135 kilometres long.
It will have paths for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as horse trails and other sports facilities.
