Also referred to as autism spectrum disorder, Autism is a group of conditions related to the development of the brain.
There is also a day dedicated to the awareness of the medical condition. It is known as World Autism Awareness Day and is observed on April 2 of every year.
The varied level of difficulty with social interaction and communication often characterises the disorder.
About 1 in 100 children have autism, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Autism is often not diagnosed until much later even though characteristics related to it may be detected in early childhood, according to Financial Express Healthcare.
Some people with ASD have a known difference, such as a genetic condition, as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
However, multiple causes of ASD act together to change the most common ways people develop, according to scientists.
The CDC also added that people with Autism may behave, communicate, interact, and learn in ways that are different from most other people.
Autism can last throughout a person’s life and begin before the age of 3 years even though symptoms may improve over time. Moreover, the CDC also described that some children show ASD symptoms within the first 12 months of life.
