Barron Trump taking photo of Melania Trump while sitting on her lap actually happened?
Donald Trump's son can be seen in controversial photo with mother
Barron Trump taking a picture of his mother, Melania Trump, while sitting on her lap was seen in a seemingly authentic photo on X in March 2024.
X (formerly Twitter) user @SundaeDivine posted a photo purportedly showing a young Barron Trump, the youngest son of former US President Donald Trump, sitting on the lap of his mother, Melania Trump on March 20, 2024. He can be seen taking her picture in a palatial room, according to Snopes.
Melania Trump's hands were placed on Barron's legs and how he was sitting on her thighs made some X users questioned the optics of the image.
This led others to ask whether the picture was real or generated using artificial intelligence.
It was declared fake by another X user.
However, the photo was found in the Getty Images library meaning that it was real, which is this claim was labelled "True."
The photo was taken on Jan 6, 2016. During a photo shoot at Trump Tower in New York City, Barron was nine. The photo was credited to Regine Mahaux, according to the caption:
Trumps in different poses were shown in similar photos during the shoot. The photos were in Getty's library.
