Lance Bass has recently opened up about living with diabetes, which he developed during COVID.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Bass said, “I developed diabetes during COVID, and I'm really trying to figure out how to control that.”
“I'm definitely conscious of my eating now,” remarked the 44-year-old.
The musician stated, “I'm learning what you can eat, when you can eat, when you take your insulin — and all that has just been really hard lately.”
After his diabetes diagnosis, Bass shared he would give priority to his physical health.
“The older I get, the more I know I have to take care of my body,” he continued.
Bass mentioned, “So I work out when I can.”
“Exercising is so key right now, but it's hard for me because of my schedule to get to a gym,” shared the father-of-two.
“So, I do have a nice setup at my house and I get 15 minutes here, 20 minutes there,” pointed out the musician.
Bass added, “The biggest thing that I've learned is to drink tons and tons of water. You think you're drinking too much water, [but] you need to drink even more than that.”
Elaborating on how he looked after his mental health amid his diagnosis, Bass said, “I've learned to meditate, which is just incredible for me. It just cuts my brain off just for a few minutes, [and] I love to do some meditation in the morning.”
“Then I make my bed. That's how I start my morning routine. It just feels like a win right off the bat,” he noted.
Bass further said, “Hiking is another way Bass practices self-care.”
“It gives me great endorphins. I think that's the best thing that helps me with my mental state.”
