Running Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon 2023? Here's what you need to know

Richmond Marathon perks include Veterans Day mementoes, complimentary beer, vodka lemonade, one-on-one assisted stretching

The Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon returns on Saturday for its 46th edition — Samuel Doud, 27, won the race the year before and completed it in 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 27 seconds while Richmond resident Sarahbeth Chargois finished first among women, clocking up at two hours, fifty-one minutes, and two seconds.

Here’s what to know about Saturday’s events:

At First and Broad Streets, the marathon gets underway at 7am. The route runs through the Fan and Museum areas, over the James River, travels through Manchester, and ends up as far north as Bellevue Avenue. It is open until 2:00pm.

The CarMax Richmond Half Marathon route is available until 11:30am, starting at 7:15am at 7th and Broad Streets.

Additionally, the VCU Health Richmond 8k begins at 8th and Broad Streets at 7:30am.

Race day packets and bibs are available at Richmond Raceway, 600 E. Laburnum Ave, on Friday from 11am until 8pm In addition to food and vendors, there will be a panel discussion at 3pm and goat yoga at 11am.

There will be Veterans Day commemorative bibs, stickers for first-timers, and official Richmond Marathon goods available.

Parking is available close to the starting line at 8th and Franklin Streets as well as on Marshall Street between 1st and 8th Streets.

The James Centre, located at 10th and Canal Streets, Main Street, located at 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 15th Streets, Cary Street, located at 8th, 14th, and 15th Streets, and Virginia and Canal Streets are all good places to park close to the finish line.

The marathon's kilometres 7, 12.5, and 19 as well as the half-marathon's mile 6 are designated party zones for spectators. Signs, music, and noisemakers will all be present.

In addition, spectators may use the RaceJoy app to receive SMS updates and monitor runners at racesignup.com.

Participants are only permitted to bring transparent bags.

After the race, additional luggage can be checked in and picked up in the American Civil War Museum in the Historic Tedegar parking lot.

From 8am until 2:30pm, Brown's Island is home to the CoStar Group Post-Race Party. There will be food, beverages, and live music available.

Beginning at 9am, participants may also enjoy a complimentary beer or vodka lemonade and participate in one-on-one assisted stretching.

There will also be a buy option for medal engraving.

The Tyler Porterfield Pedestrian Bridge in Manchester provides access for spectators to the post-race activities.

Sean Sublette, a meteorologist for the Times-Dispatch, predicts chilly and dry weather on Saturday morning. By midday, the temperature is predicted to reach 55 degrees.

Complimentary shuttles will be provided between the start and finish lines. Numerous public bus routes are also close to the racing course and after-party.
