PU student involved in firing identified

LAHORE

The Punjab University (PU) administration has identified an armed student who is allegedly a member of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) involved in firing during February 16 hostel unrest in which around 10 students from Balochistan had been injured. 

The university administration got the CCTV footage according to which an alleged IJT member and student of Institute of Geology, Sohaib Khan alias Rumi Khan, is seen with a pistol in his hands while a security guard a few students attempted to disarm him but to no avail. The PU spokesperson said the student was seen fleeing the scene with his weapon. 

Moreover, with the help of CCTV footage, the PU administration has identified 29 alleged IJT activists involved in the unrest. According to the spokesperson they include Usman of Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Hamza, Habib, Munib, Adan Malik and Moaz Akram of Punjab University Law College, Bilal, Umar, Rao Junaid, Rana Hassan, Irfan, Ibrar and Tanveer Afridi of Hailey College of Commerce, Fahad Khan, Bilal and Inzmam ul Haq of Sociolgy, Saeed and Junnaid of Gender Studies, Kareem, Hidayatullah and Wisaal of Institute of Geology, Zeeshan of Zoology, Yasir Malik of Political Science, Hassam Gujjar and Mehboob of Philosophy, Hidayatullah of Institute of Biochemistry and Technology and Usama Naseer of Institute of Education and Research (IER). 

The PU administration has instructed departments concerned to take immediate action against the students.
