Rawalpindi: Chaudhry Rahmat Ali has a rare distinction in our national history on a number of counts. He was the first to
argue the Two-Nation Theory in an irrefutable syllogism, demand a spate and a sovereign Muslim state in South Asia and establish a movement to realise the ideal, conceived, carved coned and comprehended a rare name for this country which was still in the annals of history and womb of time and destiny. He spent all his life, resources, capabilities, resources for the cause of his homeland. He enjoys a pivotal position in the origin, evolution and consummation of the idea that led to the creation of Pakistan.

This was stated by Pakistan National Movement President M Yousuf Aziz at a function organised to observe the 65th death anniversary of Chaudhry Rahmat Ali at Viqar-un-Nisa Postgraduate College for Women here on Wednesday.

General (r) Ayaz Ahmed was the guest of honour, whereas speakers included M Aslam Rao, Tazeen Akhter, Nazir Tabussum, Shazia Taslim, head of History Department at FG College Kashmir Road, Colonel (r) Akram, Muhammad Hussain Tahir and students of the college.

General (r) Ayaz Ahmed said that now it is our turn to accomplish the aspirations of the stalwarts of the Pakistan Movement.  M Aslam Rao and Tazeen Akhter, giving full historical background of the Pakistan Movement highlighted the prevailing situation in the country and urged that everyone should work for the betterment of society.

Saira Mufti and Shazia Taslim highlighted the services of Chaudhry Rahmat Ali. Nazir Tabassum and M A Tahir paid homage to the Chaudhry Rahmat Ali.

Yousuf Aziz informed that reasonable progress has been made as per prime minister’s instructions to the CDA. He said that creation of a new division for the preservation of historical heritage at the federal level is a step ahead made by the current set-up and it is hoped that the division would initiate their duties at the earliest and instead of erecting a new museum, a mausoleum of Chaudhry Rahmat Ali should be constructed commensurate to his stature.   Prizes were also distributed among the winners of the speech contest.
