Demands SC to investigate the allegations

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Opposition leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Maulana Lutfur Rahman has rejected the government committee set up to probe the Bank of Khyber (BoK) matter and demanded the government to investigate the issue through a judge of the Supreme Court (SC).

Talking to reporters at his residence here, he said there was a difference between the words and deeds of leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). He accused PTI chief Imran Khan of having double standards and pushing the country towards anarchy.

“Imran Khan is afraid of free and impartial investigation into the publication of an advertisement against Finance Minister Muzafar Said by the BoK management. He fears the PTI government in KP would collapse if an impartial investigation into the matter was carried out,” he added.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader said that PTI was claiming to be champion of upholding merit and eliminating corruption from the country if voted to power in the Centre. “But the ground realities are different. They are trying to hide the corruption of a minister and an allied party,” he added.

The opposition leader said the PTI was busy in political mud-slinging but their real face was exposed in the wake of the controversy. “A government’s own institution has exposed the violation of merit and corruption of a sitting minister and an ally of the PTI,” he added.

The JUI-F leader said violation of merit and corruption was high and that was why the development work in the province had been frozen and hardships of people compounded during the PTI-led coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He asked the provincial government to thoroughly investigate the matter. He said the people involved in the Bank of Khyber scandal could not provide any relief to masses.“The incumbent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is the worst in the history of the province. The performance of the PTI-led provincial government has been confined to just verbal statements and pledges,” he added.
