If you thought the new Yash Raj production Fan was a fluke for Shah Rukh Khan, 50, think again. The diminishing returns on Fan on the box office will not keep Khan from committing to see some seriously diverse projects.

If you thought the new Yash Raj production Fan was a fluke for Shah Rukh Khan, 50, think again. The diminishing returns on Fan on the box office will not keep Khan from committing to see some seriously diverse projects.

After weeks of speculation, we can finally report that SRK has indeed signed films with director(s) Anand L Rai (of Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhana fame) and Imtiaz Ali (Rockstar, Love Aaj Kal, Tamasha and Jab We Met).

“Film with Khan saab is my most ambitious project because he is the main casting of the film. I don’t think there is anyone who can play the character better than him,” Rai told Press Trust of India in an interview.

Addressing rumours that SRK will enact the role of a dwarf in this particular venture, Rai stated, “I am taking my time on the story… Of course, there is something… (the news of Shah Rukh playing a dwarf). It is there but this aspect also has a lot of details which I don’t want to reveal right now. People are thinking it is a film about a short man but I will say it has a very tall story. It is a challenging, entertaining story. As an actor, it is a challenging role for him. As a maker, it is an important film for me.”

Meanwhile Shah Rukh Khan’s role in Gauri Shinde’s slice-of-life film will be more than a quick cameo given the fact that he’s shot for the film over a span of 40+ days.

And though he’s had dinner with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the two are not presently working together in any film. With Raees shooting all wrapped up, SRK is, according to reports, planning to take it easy for the next month or so to give his damaged knee a chance to heal over the break.
