LOS ANGELES: Pakistani athlete Asim Zar won gold medal in 100 meter freestyle swimming competition in the Special Olympics.
This is the first ever gold medal by any Pakistani athlete in Special Olympics 2015.
The 27-year-old Asim Zar had also won the final of Special Olympics Summer Games Division M14 of the swimming final but he was disqualified for unknown reasons and Jamaica’s Jonathan Lowe was awarded the gold medal.
Asim had bagged two silver medals in the 2007 Special Olympics in China.
