LAHORE: Pakistan’s fast bowler Wahab Riaz tells Geo News that he considered the World Cup mega event as ‘now or never’ for him.
Wahab said there was no issue with his fitness and this was a conspiracy created against him. “I had recovered from the injury…as far as the issue of being included in the squad on someone’s preference, I am not concerned with such talk. Your performance determines inclusion in the team.”
Wahab said the team was capable of winning the quarter-final against Australia but their opponents played a better match.
When asked about his mesmerizing spell in that match, Wahab replied that sledging was part of the game. “I knew that we had to win the match and I would have had the same attitude regardless of sledging. My performance in that match has been a confidence booster.”
In response to Brian Lara’s support, Wahab said it was an honour and huge compliment for him.
