Shikarpur tragedy case will be sent to military court: Sharjeel Memon

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon on Thursday presented a charter of demands from the Shikarpur Shuda Action Committee according to which it was decided that the Shikarpur tragedy case will be sent to a military court.

Following the presentation of the charter of demands, Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, Chairman of Shuda Action Committee announced an end to the Shikarpur Shuda Action Committee Karachi sit-in.

Addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister House attended by the Shuda Action Committee and Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Memon said that according to the charter, a joint interrogation report (JIT) is also to be presented on it.

He also announced that according to the charter an operation would be initiated by the police and rangers in Shikarpur which will be overseen by the Apex Committee.

He went on to say that the charter demands that an extensive province wide operation should be launched to wipe out terrorists and banned organisations. He added that more security is to be provided to imambargahs across the province.

He further said that efforts are to be made to end the occupation of religious parties over government land and property, adding that wall chalking and posters spreading hatred by banned organisations are to be controlled.

The Sindh Information Minister also announced that according to the charter one individual of each victim’s family is to be granted government employment. He added that Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz has announced Rs.1 million each to heirs of the victims and Rs.0.5 million each to the injured.

Earlier at the press conference while expressing his desire to achieve success with the talks, the CM Sindh announced that the Sindh government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 2 million to the families of the victims.
