PESHAWAR: Various political and religious parties staged rallies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata Thursday on the occasion of the Kashmir Solidarity Day.
On the call of Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of JuD observed the day in the provincial capital.
The JuD activists took out a procession from the General Bus Terminal on G T Road. After passing through Khyber and Shuba bazaars, the procession culminated at the Peshawar Press Club. The provincial and local leaders of the JuD addressed the demonstrators.
On the occasion, senior Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gillani, chairman of his own faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, also delivered a telephonic speech from Srinagar.
The participants, led by JuD provincial head Maulana Nasir Javed, Peshawar district chief Mohammad Iqbal and Mohammad Omar, were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
In his speech by phone, Syed Ali Gillani said the struggle for the liberation of Kashmir from the clutches of India would continue. He condemned the recent wave of terrorism in Pakistan and said it had damaged the sacred cause of the Jihadi organisations all over the world.
Maulana Nasir Javed said the US and India wanted to suppress the voice of JuD but they would not succeed in their designs. He said the recent visit of US President Barrack Obama to India was clear example of their enmity towards Pakistan. He asked the Pakistani rulers to end all political, economic and trade ties with India.
Mohammad Iqbal said the whole world and even the United Nations was silent over the atrocities of Indian forces in Indian-held Kashmir. He stressed that Pakistanis would fully support the Kashmiris in their struggle for independence.
“The sacrifices of Kashmiri freedom fighters would not go waste,” he said, adding, the JuD would continue providing moral and political support to Kashmiris in Indian-held areas.
MARDAN: Students and teachers held a meeting at the Government High School No 3 in Mardan in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day.
The meeting was chaired by All Education Employees Coordination Council chairman Hafiz Mohammad Zubair. Later, the participants staged a procession to highlight the Kashmir cause.
The Jamaat-i-Islami Mardan chapter also arranged a seminar at the Mardan Press Club.
Addressing the seminar, JI general secretary Ghulam Rasool, Attaur Rehman Advocate, Ibrahim Biland and Manzoorul Hassan demanded the UN to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per its resolutions.
KARAK: The JI staged a procession in Karak and asked the government to support the Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination.
The procession, led by JI Karak president Maulana Tasleem Iqbal, turned into a public meeting at the Saddam Chowk.
The speakers criticised Kashmir Committee chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman for not doing anything practical for the Kashmiris.
They also demanded the United Nations to honour its resolutions on Kashmir.
BANNU: The JuD and JI organised a joint Kashmir Day rally. The speakers said the only solution to the Kashmir problem was jihad. They criticised the US for freezing the JuD assets.
MINGORA: The day was observed in various areas of Swat district.
The JI organised the main rally outside the Swat Press Club in Mingora.
JI district president Dr Fazl Subhan and other leaders said Pakistan would continue its support for the Kashimiri people.
A function was also arranged at a local hotel where students presented tableaus highlighting life the of Kashmiri people under Indian occupation.
JAMRUD: The JI staged a walk to express solidarity with people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The walk started from Al-Markaz-e-Islami and concluded at the Bab-e-Khyber.
Speaking to the participants, JI leaders including Zarghun Shah Afridi and Shabab-e-Milli Fata president Shah Jehan Afridi asked the government to take steps for the independence of Kashmir.
TIMERGARA: The JuD, Dir chapter, held a rally in Lower Dir district.
JuD leaders Abu Haroon and others said that Kashmir could only be liberated through armed struggle.
They said freedom fighters would defeat India in Kashmir in the same way as the Taliban defeated the US in Afghanistan. They vowed to continue jihad for the liberation of Afghanistan, Palestine and Kashmir.
BATKHELA: Various political parties and traders arranged functions to observe the Kashmir Solidarity Day in Malakand Agency.
The JI, Awami National Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and others asked the international community to resolve the Kashmir issue.
BATTAGRAM: Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat and JI held rallies in the district. The participants urged the Muslim world to support Pakistan’s efforts for the independence of Kashmir.
BISHAM: The district administration arranged a function in connection with the day.
Speakers at the ceremony said Pakistan would utilise all avenues to grant Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
LAKKI MARWAT: JI staged a procession in Lakki city to express solidarity with Kashmiri people.
Besides JI workers,
activists of other political parties, members of civil society and traders participated in
the procession, which started from the office of Al-Khidmat Foundation and was led by
JI district chief Mufti Irfanullah.
DAGAR: Residents held a walk in Dagar in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day in Buner district.
Deputy Commissioner Khaista Rehman and other officials, local elders and students participated in the walk.
LANDIKOTAL: The JI, Khyber Agency chapter, observed the day here by staging a rally in Landikotal.
Hundreds of JI activists marched from Bacha Khan Chowk to Landikotal Press Club where JI leaders addressed the rally. The demonstrators, holding Kashmiri flag and banners, chanted slogans against Indian Army for occupying Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the participants, JI leader Zarnoor Afridi said that Kashmir was an integral part of Pakistan and the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir was an injustice with the Kashmiri Muslims.
JI Khyber Agency chief Ikhtiar Badshah Afridi said they would continue to take up the Kashmir issue at various forums till it is resolved.
KALAYA: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Sunni Supreme Council staged a joint rally in Orakzai Agency.
Member Provincial Assembly Shah Faisal and the council’s chairman Maulana Abdul Sattar were also among the protestors who condemned the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
GHALLANAI: The Mohmand Welfare Organisation and JI organised a Kashmir Day rally in Mohmand Agency.
The demonstrators said the UN charter granted the right to self-determination to citizens of all parts of the world and nobody can take away this right from Kashmiri people.
PARACHINAR: Tribesmen in Kurram Agency staged a rally at the Kashmir Chowk in support of the Kashmiri people on the Kashmir Solidarity Day.
