LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team has reached Nottingham from Cardiff to begin training session ahead of their opening World Cup match against West Indies.
England and Wales will host the six-week tournament, which starts with England vs South Africa on May 30th and ends with the final at Lord’s on July 14. Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies on May 31. Each team will play each other once in a single league format, with the top four progressing to the semi-finals in the first week of July.
Pakistan’s right-arm fast bowler, Hasan Ali said that Pakistani bowlers are working hard to perfect their yorkers. The 24-year old mentioned that they did not bowl many yorkers in the five-match ODI series against England, which they lost 4-0, so the bowlers had a meeting with coaches and decided to work hard on the skill.
“Yorker is a weapon which we can use anywhere, in any condition and at any stage of the game, either with new ball or old ball,” said Hasan Ali. The wickets have not been very conducive for bowlers in England so far, so teams will be looking to use varieties and also take the pitch out of the equation.
