Heavy rains may cause flashflood and urban flooding in the vulnerable areas in three to four days prompting all concerned authorities to take precautionary measures accordingly.
Widespread rains, with scattered heavy and at times very heavy falls, are expected in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram agencies, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan from Sunday to Tuesday, while in Sukkur, Larkana, Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Zhob, Sibbi, Nasirabad and DI Khan divisions from Monday to Thursday.
The Meteorological Office reported that well marked seasonal low lies over southwest Balochistan and its adjoining areas with its trough extending south eastward.
Strong monsoon currents are penetrating into upper and central parts of the country and expected to continue during next two days that may interact with westerly wave. Strong monsoon currents are also approaching in southern parts of the country and likely to continue upto Thursday.
More widespread rain thundershower with scattered heavy falls expected in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, DI Khan divisions); upper Fata (Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai and Kurram Agencies); Sindh (Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad divisions); Islamabad; Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal divisions); Balochistan (Zhob, Sibbi, Kalat, Naseerabad divisions); Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while scattered rain thundershower expected in Faisalabad, Karachi divisions; and Lower KP (Kohat, Bannu, divisions). These areas may face more widespread rains, thundershower with scattered heavy falls.
During last 24 hours, widespread rain, thundershower occurred in Kashmir, Malakand, Gujranwala divisions, while scattered rain, thundershower occurred in Lahore, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Bahawalpur, Mirpurkhas divisions, whereas isolated rain, thundershower occurred in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Rainfall recorded during last 24 hours remained Kotli 96mm, Sialkot 82mm, Khanpur 54mm, Malmjabba 53mm, Muzaffarabad 51, Garhi Dupatta 41, Murree 40, Pattan 35, Lahore City 27, Peshawar 26, Islamkot 24, Multan 22, Balakot 21, Mangla 20, Islamabad ( Zero Point 19, Saidpur 12, Golra 8).
