Pervaiz heartened by steps taken by UIPM for peace, harmony

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said that it was heartening to see people with different religious background gathered under one roof for the sake of peace and harmony.
Addressing a Welcome Conference organised by Universal Interfaith Peace Mission (UIPM) on Tuesday at Islamabad Hotel to celebrate success of the organisation in winning the first prize of World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW) of United Nations bestowed by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, the information minister said by doing so we have sent a strong message to the outside world about firm commitment of Pakistani nation to stand united in all circumstances. Members of Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Bhai faiths in large numbers also attended the ceremony.

He said that Islam promotes peace and harmony and it is against all forms of violence and extremism. He said that unity of Muslim Ummah is need of the hour.
Ambassador of Royal Embassy of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Nawaf Khalifeh Saraireh who was the chief guest on the occasion said that the people of Jordan love Pakistan. “Pakistan and Jordan are like twin sisters where both nations have physical as well as spiritual relations, which are very strong and long lasting,” he added.
Eulogising the success of Universal Interfaith Peace Mission, Ambassador Saraireh said that UIPM received the award on base of merit and the organisation deserved it every bit of it.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Universal Interfaith Peace Mission Chairman Dr Allama Abdul Fateh GR Chishti shed light of Message of Amman and Common Word Movement.
He said that Message of Amman is remedy to sectarianism in Islam and Common Word Movement is a common ground for all religions to live together with calm.
Dr Chishti said this award is actually for the good performance in spreading the message of WIHW of UN and the message of WIHW is the Love of God and Love of Men.
“I believed that Muslim and minority members are together and thought what souvenir I should take with me for the population of Pakistan and I found that two programmes, ‘Message of Amman’ and ‘Common Word Movement’. So I took up these with joy and happiness. First programme is remedy to sectarianism in Islam and second is common platform for all religious organisations to live in calm.
The gist of the Message of Amman is all the Muslim Schools of thought who believe in the oneness of Allah and Prophet hood of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) face ‘Qibla’ – ‘Kaaba’, believe in Holy Quran as revelation of Allah and claim to be Muslim. He/she is Muslim and nobody has right to declare them as infidel, heretic or apostle!
“This I believe is the best remedy to the sectarianism in Islam that has taken the form of madness in Pakistan. ‘The Common Word’ is based on the Universal invitation of the Holy Quran to especially Abrahamic religions to get together where we all are common. So this movement is common ground for all religions to live is peace, harmony and calm despite differences, focusing only on commonalities. I announce that I am going to organise this movement for the best interest of Islam and Pakistan. It is because this is the only and right way that can clear the darkness of sectarianism. Our movement will be called ‘Interfaith Movement Universal.’ In short it is called ‘I am You’. I while in my suggestion in ‘I am you’ seem to be denial of ‘self’ and highlighted ‘you’ only.
While this is to smile only, the fact is that this is the way to get rid of the opportunistic and misinterpretations of Islam so I invite you and all Pakistan to join me and make Pakistan a more peace loving and harmonious nation.
