The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) is preparing to open a new housing scheme along Murree Expressway near Bhara Kahu in a couple of months.

Sources in the foundation told ‘The News’ that the brochures for the housing scheme have been printed and would be offered for sale through the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in March or April.

A total of 3,253 residential plots would be offered to the federal government employees from BPS-1 to BPS-22 in five categories. The scheme would also have separate quotas for judges, retired government employees, widows of employees, journalists and media workers.

According to the break-up, there would be 385 plots of 60x90 feet in category-I for employees of BPS-20 to 22, 574 plots of size 40x80 feet for employees of BPS 17 to 19, 734 plots of size 35x70 for employees of BPS 14 to 16, 836 plots of size 30x60 for employees from BPS 9 to 13 and 724 plots for employees of BPS 1 to 8.

The total cost of land for these plots from Category-I to Category-V would be Rs14.15 million, Rs2.6 million, Rs1.85 million, Rs1.4 million and Rs7,35,000.

However, the final approval of the rates of these plots is yet to be accorded.

As per new policy different from previous housing schemes, the federal government and semi-government employees registered with the housing foundation would get plots on the basis of their seniority in lists of respective categories. However, journalists and media workers would be allotted plots on the basis of recommendations of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Besides receiving full cost of land in installments, they would receive development charges from allottees separately.
