The Federal Directorate of Education has announced none of its staff members and those of attached educational institutions will be on leave on Nov 30, the day set for local body elections in Islamabad’s urban and rural areas.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has around 8,000 teachers from the city’s government educational institutions on its disposal to perform election-related tasks at polling stations across the federal capital.
The city has over 400 government schools and colleges, which are overseen by the FDE.
In a circular, the FDE has directed its all staff members, including area education officers, to ensure presence in offices or at the assigned polling stations on the polling day.
Besides, it also announced its offices and those of attached institutions would remain open on the polling day. According to the circular, the FDE employees will remain at the assigned polling stations until the election-related duty is over, while the rest will go their respective places of work and remain there from 7am to 1pm as usual.
