A special sub-committee of the Lahore High Court, headed by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, on Saturday reinstated services of seven civil judges terminated earlier on charges of professional misconduct.
The committee comprising Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Kazim Raza Shamsi and Justice Atir Mahmood decided the matter after giving ample opportunity of personal hearing to the terminated civil judges.
The administration committee of the LHC had in July, 2014, terminated the judicial officers for misconduct. The officers had challenged their termination before the LHC on judicial side and also assailed Section 10 of the Punjab Civil Servant Act. They pleaded that they were condemned unheard, which was violation of fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. The court had set aside the impugned section of the Act and referred the matter of officers’ termination to the administration committee for a review. The committee formed a sub-committee to decide the matter after hearing the officers. The committee reinstated the civil judges including Nadeem Asghar Nadeem, Amjad Ali, Muzaffar Hussain Mughal, Zill-i-Huma, Bushra Farid, Qamar Zaman Tarar and Saima Asif.
