Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said work is continuing on a pilot project for providing women with scooties for resolving their transport problem.
The minister was chairing a meeting held for selecting the model of scooties at Committee Room of Finance Department on Tuesday. Representatives of Women Development, Transport, Finance Departments, Bank of Punjab and various manufacturing companies attended the meeting.
The minister witnessed models of scooties of various companies. The companies gave detailed briefings to the minister about the models of 70CC and 110CC. Dr Ayesha constituted a committee. The minister said the project will be launched on the occasion of Women International Day.
daycare centers: Punjab Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said daycare centers are being set up in various institutions for children of working women. She was addressing a meeting of Board of Governors of Punjab Daycare Fund Society (PDCFS) in the Committee Room of Children Library Complex on Tuesday. Women Development Department Secretary Amna Imam, Director Sajid Tirmizi, representatives of Finance, Health, Higher Education, School Education and Industries departments besides Lahore College for Women University and Institute for Rehabilitation of Disabled were present. The meeting unanimously granted approval to the annual budget of PDCFS for the year 2015-16. It approved daycare centers in Veterinary Research Institute Ghazi Road and Govt Degree College for Women Taxila. The meeting reviewed additional grant for the already established daycare centers in various institutions under the auspices of Women Development Department besides giving approval to amendment in application form for daycare centers. The minister informed the meeting that 62 daycare centers have been set up in 13 districts of the province under public-private partnership where modern facilities of look after are being provided to children of working women. She directed that monitoring of the daycare centers should continue.
LDA auction: Ten plots and a shop were auctioned by Lahore Development Authority (LDA) against Rs 444.1 million. The auction took place on Tuesday, the LDA officials said, adding besides the auction of the plots, lease rights of a petrol station site of four kanals situated in B Block of LDA Avenue-I were also auctioned in Rs 13.32 million for three years. They said hospital site of Jubilee Town of 25 kanals, 11 marlas and 110 sqft was auction in Rs 166.8 million. Shop-51 of 324.68 sqft situated at the upper ground floor of Park N Shop Plaza, Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town was auctioned in Rs 20.0025 million whereas its bid starting price was Rs 19.48 million. Bid starting price for the lease rights of petrol pump site at Main Raiwind Road was Rs 1.1 million per kanal per year which was auctioned against Rs 1.110 million per kanal per year. Total amount generated through the auction of lease rights of this site amounted to Rs 13.32 million for a period of three years.
