CCPO Lahore launches Sharp Cops project to arrest hardened criminals

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amin Wains has said no anti-social elements will be allowed to harass peaceful citizens in the city. Addressing a launch of a Sharp Cops project at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, he said that a list of 100 notorious characters had been compiled and 100 Sharp Cops were selected to use every legal method to bring them to justice. He said that authorities concerned were also being contacted for putting their names on ECL and if anyone of them had gone abroad, their arrest would be ensured through red warrants. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, SSP Investigation Rana Ayyaz Saleem, SP CIA Muhammad Omer Virk, SP CRO Omer Riaz Cheema besides all divisional SPs and complaints in various heinous cases including murders were present in large numbers. SSP Investigation Rana Ayyaz Saleem briefed the CCPO on the Sharp Cops project and said that teams comprising senior police officials had been constituted which were given targets of apprehending the accused. He said the teams would maintain a constant contact with the complaints and exchange information as well as ensure their protection. Amin Wains said police team which achieve targets would be generously rewarded. He said that all possible resources would be provided to the police teams.
