CHARSADDA: The police arrested 62 suspected persons, including 16 proclaimed offenders, during a search and strike operation in Shabqadar tehsil, officials said on Sunday.They said that the police launched a search and strike operation against anti-social elements and made the arrests. They said that the police also recovered three Kalashnikovs, nine rifles, 13 pistols, hundred of cartridges and 2585 gram of hashish from them.

Woman killed, 12 hurt in TT Singh accident

TOBA TEK SINGH: A woman was killed while 12 others sustained injuries in an accident near Kamalia on Sunday. A bus was carrying passengers to Multan when it collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction on Toba-Kamalia Road. Bano Bibi was killed while 12 other passengers including Fayyaz, Zafar, Anwar, Rashid, Akbar, Ramzan, Kaleem, Aslam, Nadeem and Zubaida Bibi were injured. The injured were shifted to the DHQ Hospital Toba.

Two houses demolished in Jamrud
JAMRUD: Security forces arrested five suspected militants in Jamrud subdivision in Khyber Agency on Sunday. Sources said the five militants were arrested in Shodani area. The forces also demolished two houses of the suspected militants.

Woman killed, two hurt in Burewala accident

BUREWALA: A woman was killed and two others sustained injuries in a road accident on Luddan Road here on Sunday.Muhammad Ijaz and Safia Bibi of Chak 461/EB were on their way home by a motorcycle when another motorcyclist Muhammad Akram collided with them. As a result, Safia Bibi was killed on the spot while both Ijaz and Akram sustained serious injuries.

Seven students injured in Chakwal road crash

CHAKWAL: As many as seven students of a Sargodha University were injured in a road accident near Balkasar village on Sunday. A bus was carrying the students to the Bhakkar campus when it collided with a mini truck on Chakwal-Talagang Road. As a result, seven students including Liaqat, Ramzan, Dost Muhammad, Irfan and Ayesha were injured. The injured students were shifted to DHQ Hospital.

Child killed as two groups exchange fire

PESHAWAR: A child was injured when two groups exchanged fire over kite-flying dispute in Afridiabad in the limits of the Yakatoot Police Station on Sunday. Senior superintendent of police (SSP), operations, Mian Saeed Ahmad said one of the accused, Sheraz, was arrested after the child, Abdullah, was wounded in firing over kite flying in Yakatoot. He added that a case has been registered.

Six POs held in Daska with illegal arms

DASKA: Police on Sunday arrested six proclaimed offenders and recovered illegal arms from them in separate incidents here. On a tip-off, the police raided various areas and arrested Qari, Boota, Nasir, Mehtab, Khadim Hussain and Mukhtar and recovered illegal arms from their possession. Meanwhile, the police arrested Razia Bibi and her accomplice and recovered 10 bottles of liquor and 1,040 grams charas from them.

Man killed, two injured during crossfire

KASUR: A man was killed while two others were injured during crossfire between two groups near Jamshair Kalan on Sunday. Amjad Dogar group and Haji Dogar group had a rivalry over some issues. On the day of the incident, Haji Dogar and his accomplices allegedly opened fire at Amjad Dogar and his relatives while Amjad group also retaliated. As a result of crossfire, Amjad Dogar was killed on the spot while two others sustained bullet injuries. Police have started investigation.

Girl killed in Nankana

NANKANA SAHIB: A girl was killed over a marriage issue at Thattha Kamoki village on Sunday. Accused Faisal wanted to marry with Tehreem Bibi, the daughter of Ameer Ali, but her parents refused to accept the marriage proposal. On the day of the incident, accused Faisal along with his accomplices came to the house of Ameer Ali and allegedly shot Tehreem dead.

Biker dies in accident

PAKPATTAN: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident near Bridge Nitha on Sunday. Phalwan, s/o Jalal and a resident of Chak 89-D, was on his way by a bike when a tractor-trolley crushed him to death.

IDPs from North Waziristan to return on March 31

BANNU: Return process of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) to North Waziristan Agency would start from March 31. The schedule, issued by the political administration, stated that the IDPs would be sent to Shah Meri area in Spinwam tehsil in the first phase from March 31 to April 10. The IDPs to Mir Ali tehsil would be sent from April 10 to April 13while displaced people from Shahikhel would return to their homes from April 20 to April 24. The registration process for the returning IDPs was completed at the Camp Office at the Bannu Township on March 25. Elders of the IDPs appreciated the government for sending the displaced families to their homes in North Waziristan. They also thanked the residents of Bannu district for accommodating IDPs .

THQ hospital Booni upgraded

CHITRAL: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government approved the recommendations of the health authorities of Chitral district and granted a category-C status to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Booni. District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Israrullah said that the patients and people of far-flung areas had been facing shortage healthcare facilities since long. He said that the Women and Children Hospital, which was lying closed, had had now been opened for the patients. The official said that the hospitals were facing tremendous problems due to non-availability of electricity. He said that an organisation named Improving Quality of Healthcare Services (IQHS) had also assisted the health officials in the district by providing solar systems to the health facilities where there was no arrangement for electricity. He said that the government had provided fund for the female and children wards in the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Drosh. The DHO said that the X-ray plant lying disputed since 2006 in the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Drasun tehsil had also been made functional.

Teacher goes missing in Mardan

NOWSHERA: A schoolteacher mysteriously went missing after performing duty in Mardan, officials said on Sunday.Sayed Iqbal Shah told the police that his brother Sayed Jamil Shah, who is primary school teacher, had left the house in his car to perform duty in the annual matriculation examination in a school in Bigat Ganj in Mardan. He said that his brother informed his wife through short message service that he was invited to a dinner and would return home late. He said the next morning they found Jamil Shah’s car parked in a street in Durrani Colony near Kabul River while his brother was missing.

House bombed in Mardan

MARDAN: A house was bombed in the limits of Toru Police Station last night, officials said. According to Toru Police Station, Wazir Khan, resident of Sohbat Killay, said that he was being asked by a resident of Buner to pay extortion money. He added that last night he along with his family members was asleep in his house when a bomb planted to gate of his house went off. The door was damaged, however, there was no loss of life. The police registered a case and started investigation.

Woman killed as roof caves in

HANGU: A woman was killed and four other persons sustained injuries when the roof of a house collapsed in Orakzai Agency, official sources said on Sunday. They said that the roof of a house of one Mian Jan collapsed in Merobak in lower part of Orakzai Agency, burying five members of his family alive. The locals retrieved a body and rescued four other persons. The locals said the four persons had also sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a hospital in Kohat.
Cook of KP MPAs’ hostel injured

PESHAWAR: A cook of the MPAs’ hostel was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital after he fell from the roof of the building on Sunday. Reports said that Haider Anwar was shifted to hospital when he fell down from the rooftop. Initially guards of the building saw the wounded cook and then informed others, after which he was shifted to hospital.
