Abduction bid foiled, three held
WAH CANTT: The National Highway and Motorway Police on Thursday foiled an abduction bid on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) near Hasanabdal and arrested three abductors.Police sources said some commuters informed police about some suspicious activity in a car on which a patrolling party, led by DSP Asad Dawood, intercepted the car near Hasanabdal. During search police recovered an abducted person who was later identified as Shahidullah, resident of Islamabad. The police arrested the three abductors and identified them as Ansar Ali, Naeem Khan and Inamullah. Later they were handed over to Hasanabdal police for investigation.

Two hotel owners booked for not keeping record of guests
RAWALPINDI: Cantonment Police on Thursday registered cases against two hotel owners for not getting proper information of their guests and tenants. The police raided a hotel and found its owners Muhammad Akbar and Chand Masih negligent in keeping the proper record of their guests. Police said that the cases were registered under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance 2015.

ECP restores membership of minority MPA
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday restored the membership of Santosh Kumar, a member of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on reserved seat in Balochistan Provincial Assembly. a notification issued, ECP said the orders issued on February 12, 2015 in case No 5 (6)/2014 Law in Civil Appeal No 1550/2014, the ECP is pleased to recall its Notification issued on Nov 24, 2015 declaring Ms Anita Irfan as MPA on the seat reserved for Non-Muslims in the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan.

Two shot dead in Kohat
KOHAT: At least two people were killed while three others injured when a gunman opened fire at them from a car in Karak city on Thursday, police said. Meanwhile an alleged car lifter Javed has also been arrested by Kohat police at Indus highway Kohat on Thursday, stolen car has also been recovered from his possession, police added.

Eight held as brothel raided in Pindi
RAWALPINDI: Saddar Barooni Police Thursday raided a brothel and arrested eight accused for allegedly being involved in immoral activities. Following a tip-off, the police raided a house in Ghaziabad and arrested the eight persons.

Five killed in Karak firing incident
KARAK: Five persons were killed and another injured when unknown assailants started indiscriminate firing on a pickup near general bus stand at Indus Highway here on Thursday, police said. Unidentified attackers started firing on a pickup carrying Hassan Khan who was released from district jail Karak. Five persons were killed in the incident including Hassan Khan who was in the jail over women’ dispute.

Two held with drugs in Lahore

LAHORE: Shahdara police arrested two drug pushers and recovered 8-kg opium and 7-kg charas from their possession. The arrested drug peddlers were identified as Hafizullah and Waheed Khan. The police registered a case against the accused.

Woman killed in firing
DERA MURAD JAMALI: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a woman over matrimonial issue near City Police Station House area of Naseerabad district on Thursday.According to police, the assailants opened fire at a woman due to matrimonial issue and fled from the scene, killing her on the spot. The body was handed over to the heirs after legal formalities. Police have registered a case.
Concern voiced over terror attacks

PESHAWAR: Awaz District Forum on Thursday expressed concern over the unabated wave of violence in the country that is taking the lives of innocent citizens and called for national unity to defeat terrorism. Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, the forum’s President Muhammad Anwar Khan, General Secretary Noorul Wahab and others said the recent terrorist attacks in the country, including the one on imambargah in Peshawar were condemnable. They said the country could not make growth in economy until there was complete peace. They said the government, state institutions and general public all would have to forge unity against terrorism.

Drug peddlers held in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: The political administration arrested two alleged drug-peddlers belonging to Afghanistan here on Thursday, said a senior official. An official said that acting on a tip-off, the personnel of Khassadar and Levies Force raided an apartment near Landikotal bazaar. He added that a huge quantity of heroin, a car, pistol and some cash were recovered from the apartment and two Afghan nationals were arrested.

Two teens killed in Takht Bhai accident

TAKHT BHAI: Two teenagers were killed in a road accident in Shahdhand Chowk here on Thursday, hospital sources said. They said that 14-year-old Jibran and 13-year-old Hassnain were heading to a picnic spot after getting off the school when their bike rammed into a roadside tree at the Shahdhand Chowk. Jibran was killed on the spot while Hassnain succumbed to his injuries on way to the Mardan Medical Complex. Moving scenes were witnessed when the funeral processions of both the deceased students were taken out.

Girl slaughtered in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Unidentified persons slaughtered a young girl in Station Koroona area in the jurisdiction of Umarzai Police Station, police said on Thursday. They said that the throat-slit body of Aiman Bibi was found dumped in Station Koroona area. The police lodged the case and started investigation.

Arms dealer held in Haripur

HARIPUR: The police arrested arms dealer and recovered illegal arms from his shop here on Thursday, sources said. The sources said that a police party headed by the Assistant Superintendent of Police Bilal Zafar raided a shop in the main market and recovered 14 guns, nine pistols and 29,997 cartridges. The arms dealer, Shah Alam, belonging to Nowshera district, was arrested and booked under Section 15-Arms Act.

Body found in Lahore

LAHORE: A 70-year-old man was found dead in the Data Darbar police limits on Thursday. Police with the help of Edhi Ambulance Service removed the body to morgue for autopsy. A passerby informed the police about the man lying unconscious near Metro Bus Station. Police rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
