ECP asked to ensure free general elections

CHAKWAL: PML-N leader Abdul Qayyum has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take steps to ensure free and transparent general elections in the country.
Talking to newsmen after attending a Bara Khana organised by the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited at Fim Kassar on Sunday, he said that immediate elections were the need of the hour. He said that the rulers had plundered the national exchequer. He said that PML-N president Mian Nawaz Sharif was the only competent leader, who could steer the country out of the crises. He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif wanted a team of true Pakistanis to build a new Pakistan. To a question, he said that it was premature to say that former district nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas was joining the PML-N.
‘JI IN CONTACT WITH PARTIES FOR ALLIANCE’: Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab ameer Dr Wasim Akhtar has said that the party is in contact with the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and other political parties to form an electoral alliance with them for the coming general elections.
Talking to JI candidates for two national assembly and four provincial assembly seats here on Sunday, he said that a national and a provincial assembly seat in every district was a demand of the JI for an alliance with other parties. He claimed that there would be the JI government in the province in 2018. He also claimed that the JI would be the biggest political party of the country after 10 years.
