China appreciates Pakistan’s peacekeeping role

ISLAMABAD: China highly appreciates Pakistan’s peace-keeping role world over at the level of United Nations, said Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong.
He expressed these words of appreciations for the Pakistani peace-keeping troops while addressing the inaugural session of a national conference held on Saturday on the 70th anniversary of the world body.
Pakistan’s peace-keeping efforts, he said testified to its firm commitment to peace and security. Ambassador Sun said China and Pakistan enjoy close collaboration at all forums of UN, taking joint position on regional and international issues. The conference was jointly organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI) in collaboration with the Chinese embassy.
It was participated by scholars from Pakistan and China. The inaugural session was also addressed by Ambassador Masood Khan, Director General ISSI, Resident Coordinator UN Indrika Ratwatte and Inamul Haq, former minister of state for foreign affairs. Ambassador Sun also spoke about China’s contributions towards the UN for achieving its stipulated goals, China’s position on various regional and international issues on the level world’s body and his country’s future plan for its development.
China, he said has been playing a pro-active role in dealing with international agenda, particularly for promoting peace, security and development, as well as ensuring equity, respects and win-win situation in the international relations.
China’s financial contribution towards promoting world peace and development is also worth-mentioning, he added.
China, he said wished that big powers in their relations with less-developed countries should uphold the principles of equity, fairness, while showing respect to their sovereignty and integrity.
He said China always favours solution of bilateral and regional disputes through dialogue and consultation. “The principle of non-conflict and non-confrontation must be strictly adhered to,” he added.
Ambassador Sun Weidong further asserted that the cold war mentality must be abandoned in order to achieve common development and absolute security. He hoped that the international community will extend its all-out support to the world body for conflicts’ resolutions.
He called for giving up double-standard while fighting out terrorism. China, he said strongly opposes all sorts of terrorism and prepared to join hands with the world community to bring this menace to an end.
