LODON: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda has said that the Scotland Yard officers were “shocked” to see the “kind of evidence” presented against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain.
Accompanied by Barrister Waheed-uru-Reham Mian and solicitor Mahtab Aziz, PTI’s Karachi Faisal Vawda met officers from the Specialist Operations at the Belgravia police station on Monday for two hours. Vawda had arrived at the police station carrying bundles of papers and a few CDs. He claimed that the “evidence I have brought has never been seen before and contains shocking new details including bank statements, confessional video statements, receipts of confirmation from those who were forced to pay money to the MQM and those who were involved in illegal transactions with the MQM.”
According to Vawda the evidence contained MQM statements which showed large amounts of money being sent to London. “Every regulation in the book was broken by MQM. UK and Pakistan’s economy was damaged.”
Vawda said he was thankful to the officers who listened and promised to look into the provided evidence. He added that a request will also be made to revoke the British citizenship of Altaf.
Vawada said that the government of Pakistan was not fully cooperating with the UK authorities and he had drawn this impression during meeting with the police officers. “It has been left to the team of Imran Khan to do all the work of exposing the mafia that has the patronage of Altaf Hussain. Imran Khan is leading the fight against MQM but this is something the Pakistani government should have been doing. I call on the government of Pakistan to help the Metropolitan police officers in exposing the MQM’s leader in London. Its not time to play politics. Its time to be sincere to Pakistan.”
Vawda said that it was for the first time that Scotland Yard’s Specialist command unit officers had met any Pakistani in London for two hours to hear about the MQM and “how its terrorising a whole country and millions of people”.
Vawda said that Altaf Hussain had broken the oath it took in Britain while getting British nationality. He alleged that Altaf Hussain was involved in breaking the laws of Pakistan as well as Britain and had damaged the economy of both countries through alleged money laundering. He said that the Scotland Yard officers told him that they will continue their investigation till justice is achieved for the family of Dr Imran Farooq and those involved money laundering are brought to justice. “It’s my impression that the Scotland Yard will not come under pressure from any source, especially the Indian government or its agency RAW. All cases have been clubbed by the UK police, the govt of Pakistan is slow but we are providing evidence to the police. The London police is clear about the hate speeches made by Altaf Hussain and I hope that there will be action soon. I have asked the police to not waste time anymore and take action against Altaf.”
