In the wake of the Peshawar tragedy, it is recommended that the martyred principal of the Army Public School Tahira Qazi and schoolteacher Afshan be recommended for Nishan-e-Pakistan. At least one sibling/child of the martyred children and teachers should be allowed free education at APS. Cash compensation of Rs5 million should be announced for each bereaved family, while one adult member of the bereaved families should be provided a government job.
Moreover, the slogan of APS should be revised to tailor it to the spirits of the martyred students. Schools can be named after the martyred students preferably in their home districts and, finally, at least 30 grace marks should be awarded to each and every student of the school in order to provide them some relief from the trauma and examination stress. Hopefully, these small steps will contribute towards lessening the grief of the bereaved and shattered families.
