Institutional corruption is the core problem of this country. Unfortunately, the PTI government, which came to power with a promise to eradicate corruption, did nothing to deal with this issue. Drastic changes are needed to deal with this menace. It’s shocking that a corrupt government servant usually receives no punishment – or even symbolic punishment like suspension from work for a short period or ineligibility for annual increments. Our complex judicial system also provides full support to the person accused of corrupt practices. In the past, the media highlighted innumerable corruption cases, but not one person received strict punishment.
