The Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital (PGMI/LGH) Principal Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood who introduced Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) therapy for the first time in Pakistan for the patients of Parkinson’s disease and muscular problems in public as well as private sectors has launched a website (www.dbspakistan.com) to facilitate patients and their families by providing them basic information and sensitization about the treatment of the disease.
Through this website the depressed patients would be able see a new ray of hope and get themselves treated by the first DBS Centre established at Lahore General Hospital. Dr Khalid Mahmood, Professor of Neuro Surgery Unit II, said in this regard that he believed in best use of medical science advancements of this modern age for the treatment of ailing humanity. He said by adopting DBS technique for treatment available at LGH, patients of Parkinson’s disease and muscular pains could avoid foreign travel and high expenses for their treatment.
The salient feature of the website launched by Prof Khalid Mahmood is the details it provides about five departments of Neurology including Neuro Surgery, Neuro Physician, Physiatrist, Neuro Physiagist and Physiotherapists along with all their components. Moreover, it also gives introduction of renowned doctors working at LGH along with their specialties.
