Pittsburgh Penguins acquire David Gustafsson in trade with Winnipeg Jets
Gustafsson recorded 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in 48 regular season games, finishing with a plus-12 rating
The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward David Gustafsson from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for defenceman Jack St. Ivany, the club announced.
According to the Penguins, the 26-year-old Swedish forward is a pending restricted free agent and arrives after spending the 2025-26 season primarily with the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League.
Gustafsson recorded 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in 48 regular season games, finishing with a plus-12 rating.
His 0.67 points per game ranked first on the Moose, while his 22 assists were the third highest on the team and he also contributed four points in seven Calder Cup Play-off matches.
He spent the past seven seasons in the Winnipeg organisation, splitting time between the Jets and the Moose and has appeared in 149 NHL regular season games, registering six goals and 14 assists for 20 points.
At AHL level, Gustafsson has accumulated 91 points, including 34 goals and 57 assists, in 136 career regular season games.
Before moving to North America, Gustafsson played two seasons in the Swedish Hockey League and has also represented Sweden internationally, winning bronze medals at the 2020 World Junior Championship and the 2018 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.
Gustafsson was selected by the Winnipeg Jets with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
