Woman tortured to death by in-laws

LAHORE:An 18-year-old woman was tortured to death allegedly by her in-laws at Batapur on Friday.

Victim Zainab, a resident of Lakhoder, was married to Ghulam Abbas. Her husband and his mother would often subject her to to severe torture. On the day of the incident, they allegedly beat her up on a minor issue brutally and she fainted. She was removed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Police removed the body to morgue and collected forensic evidence from crime scene. Police also took accused Ghulam Abbas and Shakeela into their custody and were investigating the matter.

found dead: A 45-year-old security guard was stabbed to death by unidentified persons at Naseerabad on Friday. Victim Asim worked as a security guard in a house at Gulberg. On the day of the incident, he was found dead in the house. Initial investigations suggested that the assailant/s barged into the house and stabbed the victim to death. Police removed his body to morgue and collected forensic evidence from crime scene.

The victim was a resident of Rachna Town. Initial investigations suggested that the victim might have been murdered over personal enmity. However, further investigations would help ascertain the facts.

bodies found: The bodies of two persons, unidentified so far, were found in different parts of the City on Friday. A case was reported in Shafiqabad where a passerby spotted the body and informed police. Police removed it to morgue. The other body was found in a street near Muslim Town Morr. It was a decomposed body. Police said the causes of their deaths would be ascertained after autopsy. Police said they were trying to ascertain their identity.

45 buffaloes electrocuted: At least 45 buffaloes of a man died from electrocution at Sabzazar on Friday. The buffaloes were owned by Sharafat Ali Dogar who had set up a dairy farm. On the day of the incident, his cattle were bathing in a drain when all of a sudden, a high tension wire broke and fell on them. At least 45 buffaloes suffered severe electric shocks and died.

arrested: Gulshan-e-Iqbal police on Friday arrested two suspected bike lifters. The arrested accused have been identified as Waqar and Yasir. Police also recovered four motorbikes, LCDs, mobile phones and other valuables from their custody. They have confessed to committing various crimes. Police said that they were investigating the matter.
