Chinese nationals who were robbed await justice

Seven Chinese nationals, who were deprived of their valuables in two separate robbery incidents in the City, still await police action against the criminals.
Two of them were shot at and injured during the first robbery incident over one month ago.
One of the victims expressed his displeasure that the police had not contacted them thus far in connection with investigations. The second one described the attack on foreigners on the Pakistan Day (March 23, 2015) as unfortunate.
According to details, five Chinese staying at a hotel in Gulberg were intercepted by two unidentified armed motorcyclists on March 23, as they left their place in a car. The robbers demanded handing over of all belongings and shot at and injured two of them on offering resistance. Later, they fled the scene after collecting 4,000 Chinese Yuan, their passports and a driving licence.
An FIR No 260/15 was lodged against the robbers with the Garden Town police station. The police, after initial investigation, transferred the case to DSP CIA Model Town.
In another incident, two Chinese nationals were looted when they left their hotel situated in Gulberg area in a car on April 19. As they reached near Hussain Chowk, two men intercepted them. On inquiry, they showed them their identity cards and posed themselves as the officials of a sensitive agency. During the car and body search, they seized their belongings including money and mobile-phones and fled the scene.
An FIR No 562/15 of the incident was registered against the unknown ‘robbers’ at the Gulberg police station.
Investigation officer ASI Muzaffar Ali told The News they have yet to find any clue to the ‘robbers’. The police have sent the IME numbers of the mobile data for tracking, he added. He said the accused had placed a fake number-plate on the car, used during the robbery. About any information of any gang involved in looting of foreigners using similar modus operandi, ASI Muzaffar said that would be ascertained after the arrest of the robbers.
One of the victims injured on resistance in Garden Town police precincts told The News that was a bad experience for them, indeed. He said they were very upset since the attack and still scared.
One of the injured has recovered while the other is still under treatment in China, he added. About the money lost in the incident, he said they were not concerned about the money; life is more important than money. He said they could pay a reward if someone could help arrest the said criminals. —Muhammad Shahzad
