Saaf Pani Company: NAB summons Hamza too

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday summoned Hamza Shahbaz, son of Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, to probe his alleged involvement in the Saaf Pani Company scam on 18th of this month.

The News has learnt that a summons, a copy of which is available with The News, has been dispatched to Hamza at his residence 96-H, Model Town.

The contents of the summons states that during the inquiry, it has been revealed that he (Hamza) has possession of information or evidence related to the Saaf Pani Company’s scam as he attended various meetings related to issues pertaining to the affairs of the said company.

The summons further directed Hamza to appear before Bureau’s Assistant Director Saqib Haider in Lahore at 11am on May 18 along with his original CNIC and other related documents to support his stance.

It is pertinent to mention that that the NAB had already summoned Shahbaz Sharif on June 4 in the same scam.

Previously, the Bureau had recorded the statements MPA Waheed Gul and Punjab Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha.

The NAB so far has arrested five accused in the Saaf Pani Company scam.

They are Dr Zahiruddin, Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, Nasir Qadir, Khalid Nadeem Bukhari and Masood Akhtar. Zahiruddin had been working as chief technical officer (CTO) in the Saaf Pani Company and Nasir Qadir as chief procurement officer (CFO).

Moreover, Associated Consultant Engineer Saleem was attached with the Saaf Pani Company.

It is pertinent to mention that all the clean water projects in the province are running under Saaf Pani Company and the arrests were made in a single project. There are many other projects which are yet to be probed by the NAB.
