Kidnap attempt foiled

KIDNAP ATTEMPT: A traffic warden foiled an attempt to kidnap a child and recovered a boy from a rickshaw driver in Green Town police limits.

CTO announced cash prize and commendatory certificate for the warden. The victim identified as Abu Bakar, 10, of Bagrian village, started crying at a traffic signal when a rickshaw driver tried to kidnap him. On inquiry, the child told the warden that the driver was taking him away forcibly. The warden protected the child and handed over him to his parents.

ARRESTED: AVLS Civil Lines claimed to have arrested four car thieves and recovered cars worth Rs 7 million, bikes and weapons. SP AVLS Atif Hayat told reporters that Shahid Mayo car thief gang had stolen a number of cars and bikes. A special team traced the criminals and recovered 12 cars, 3 bikes and weapons. The accused were identified as Shahid Mayo, ringleader, Ghulam Yasin, Asif Ali and Irfan Anjum. They stole cars from Mughalpura, Gawalmandi, Johar Town, Lower Mall, North Cantt and Gulberg.

EXPAT HANDED OVER CASH: UK-based expatriate Pakistani has succeeded in getting back his Rs 10 million due to the efforts of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab. Overseas Pakistani Dr Shahzad thanked the CM and OPC. OPC Vice Chairperson Senator Shaheen Khalid and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said Dr Shahzad lodged a complaint that he was given two cheques by a woman to settle a property dispute, but the cheques were bounced. This matter was referred to DIG Agha Yousaf who registered a case against the woman. As a result, the accused handed over the amount to Dr Shahzad.

ROAD accidentS: At least 966 road accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which seven lives were lost and 725 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts & tehsils.
