Nawaz owns Rs1.62 bn assets, Imran Rs1.4 bn: ECP releases asset details of parliamentarians
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif owns assets of Rs1.62 billion, including Raiwind Jati Umra property with estimated value put at Rs4 million, as per the statement of assets and liabilities of legislators, released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received more than Rs230 million from his son Hussain Nawaz from abroad, according to his asset details of 2016. Nawaz Sharif’s Upper Mall, Lahore, property is worth over Rs250 million. Moreover, he owns Rs7 million worth of furniture, Rs5 million worth of animals and birds and three cars and two tractors as well.
His spouse Kulsoom Nawaz owns jewellery worth Rs1.5 million. The prime minister neither owns property abroad nor has invested outside the country.
The fortunes of the prime minister and presently his top rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan are not much different. Imran owns assets worth more than Rs1.4 billion and he also does not possess assets outside Pakistan.
Imran’s much-talked about Banigala residence has estimated value of Rs750 million and has been declared as a ‘gift’ in his statement of assets and liabilities submitted to the ECP. The ‘Khan House’ office of the PTI Chairman Imran is priced at Rs5.9 million, while Rs6.9 million is the worth of the boundary wall of Imran’s Banigala residence.
Likewise, Imran’s family home in Zaman Park, Lahore, is worth Rs290.60 million. Moreover, he has invested over Rs40 million in various schemes, owns furniture worth Rs0.6 million and four goats worth Rs0.2 million.
The PTI chief does not own a car, as the last vehicle registered under his name was sold in 2016. PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s assets value is estimated to be Rs500 million while the party’s Secretary Jehangir Tareen owns assets, valued at Rs780 million. However, as per his documents, neither he owns a plane nor a helicopter. But he has made mention of five vehicles under his use.
Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar owns assets worth over Rs580 million. He also possesses arms worth Rs23,000. Dar owns no property abroad.
The total value of assets of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz is more than Rs350 million while Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has assets worth over Rs47 million. JUI-Fazl’s chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is the owner of assets worth more than Rs6.4 million, whereas prime minister’s son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar has assets valued at Rs14.2 million.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq owns assets worth more than Rs190 million while Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah owns assets worth Rs30 million.
